The use of advertising in public relations
To what
extent do you think Public relations and Advertising differ? Most people think
there’s a thin line between the two, in an actual fact advertising is the
opposite of public relations and vice versa. With advertising you get full
control over the content, the word choice and format while in public relations
the media is in charge of the content, the word choice, the size and format. In
advertising you have to pay for your message to be placed in communication
channels whereas with public relations you don’t pay due to the newsworthiness
of the report. Therefore advertising is really effective.

Advertising
helps one in terms of name recognition and brand awareness. Before you become
aware of a brand, you need to recognize it therefore recognition plays a
pivotal role in brand awareness. Advertising promotes organizations and their
products. Advertising is effective
because the communication channels used such as Television and Radio make
brands popular by repeating those brands through advertisements constantly. We see
the same adverts each and every day which make us not to forget but remember to
buy the products.
An advertisement
makes you aware of new products that come into the market. It tells us
information about the name of the product, reasons why people should buy it. It
informs about where to get the product and its prices. PUBLIC RELATIONS AND ADVERTISING ARE INTERDEPENDENT
It has been said
that oil and water differs a lot to an extent that they don’t mix when put
together in one bottle. However with Advertising
and Public relations it’s different. Public relations utilizes third-party
testimonials where other individuals are talking about you. In advertising, you
are speaking about yourself. Although the two differs they can be used together
effectively and complement each other.
